Case study
Bitcoin collectibles
Founding and advising Bitcoin collectibles ventures, where identity, history, scarcity, and belonging turn objects into economic value.
Context
I founded Koil Breaks in 2023, a collectibles company built on entertainment around Bitcoin Trading Cards, and ran it as Founder and Chief Bitcoin Officer through 2025. I later founded CLCT, and I have advised Bitcoin Trading Cards and BasedTradingCards since 2023.
What collectibles taught me
Collectibles are the plainest demonstration I know that value is not only utility. Participants buy objects to express affiliation, document that they were there, signal expertise, preserve history, and strengthen their place in a community. Price follows story and belonging, not just scarcity.
The pattern underneath
Bitcoin participation generates exactly this kind of cultural and reputational value constantly. The problem is that it is scattered across platforms and mostly evaporates. The contributions, relationships, and achievements that should compound into a reputation instead vanish.
What it influenced
This is the seed of Bitcoin Culture Hub's cultural thesis. If participation creates real value, and most of it is currently lost, then making those signals visible, portable, and useful is a business worth building.
What came next
This is where Bitcoin Culture Hub's cultural thesis was born: participation creates reputational and cultural value, and most of it is currently lost because it is scattered. The company exists to make those signals visible and useful.
